Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Robert Piconi is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Energy Vault. Robert brings a wealth of diverse experience through his prior executive leadership roles at Fortune 100 public companies, including Diversified Energy (Amoco/British Petroleum), Telecommunications Infrastructure (Bell Labs Lucent Technologies, Alcatel), and Security/Network Management (Danaher Corporation). Robert earned his BS/BBA undergraduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Andrea Pedretti is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Energy Vault. Prior to Energy Vault, Andrea founded and served as the CTO of a number of technology companies. He is the inventor of more than 25 patents worldwide for a variety of civil engineering and energy applications. Andrea earned his MS in structural engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich.
Chief Commercial Officer
Merrick Kerr is the Chief Commercial Officer of Energy Vault. Merrick has over 25 years of Energy industry experience, holding senior financial and commercial roles with renewable energy companies. He played a significant part in the deployment of more than 1GW of wind and solar. Merrick earned his BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Edinburgh and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Chairman & CEO, Idealab Studio
Bill Gross is Co-Founder and Director of Energy Vault and Founder and Chairman of leading technology incubator Idealab Studio. Over the last 23 years, Idealab has created and operated more than 150 companies, created more than 10,000 jobs, and had more than 45 successful IPOs and acquisitions in the areas of renewable energy, software, online advertising, Internet services, robotics, social media, and transportation. Among the companies begun at Idealab are Overture Services, Internet Brands, RayTracker, and Picasa. Many of these companies were among the first to introduce new business ideas to the market and have helped to shape the technology landscape. Prior to Energy Vault, Bill founded a number of energy storage and solar companies, including Energy Cache, eSolar, Duron Solar, Raytracker, Thermata, and others. Bill received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California Institute of Technology on the board of which he sits.
